Here are some very excited faces our our Young Voices choir just as the performance was about to start
This afternoon and into the evening 30 children from across KS2 took part in Young Voices Choir Concert at Sheffield Arena. What a brilliant and exciting time it was! Take a look at some pictures and videos.
We met the conductor David who got us to warm up our voices and bodies before rehearsal.
After being all warmed up, we’re ready for our dinner and for our adults to arrive to watch us perform!
Year 4 had a visit from Sam the sound man. They learnt so many amazing things about sound from how echoes work to ways we could make our own instruments. Sam talked the children through the main scientific concepts and brought many experiments to practically demonstrate the key theories. He also discussed many different homemade musical instruments that can be made out of household objects.
Thank you to all the families who came to Carols around the tree and watched Year 3 and 4 perform some beautiful carols. As well as the choir, steel pans and Nathaniel’s piano performance.
Year 3 had the opportunity to experience an artsong music workshop from Leeds Lieder this afternoon. They learnt that Leider means artsong and understood how important music is in creating an image.
They discussed musical vocabulary pitch and dynamics.
They also practiced being conductors to change the dynamics of the piano as shown in the picture above.
Lastly, Year 3 worked together to create a song. Here it is!
6D had a live music performance from Izzy! (see below).
In Autumn 1, year 3 have been exploring pitch with chime bars. They have been listening to and appreciating music and noticing where the pitch gets higher and where the pitch gets lower. They have learnt how to hold a beater and use the chime bars. They have learnt to play along with the song ‘elevator’ and ‘once a man fell in a well’.
This morning we had the opportunity to showcase some of the fantastic music that has been taking place across the year at Allerton. We saw brilliant performances from Upper Key Stage 2 Choir, Key Stage 1 choir, Steel Pans ensemble and samba club. It was so great to see our musical and creative children showing some of the brilliant skills they have learnt.
