Steel Pan Club runs after school on a Tuesday with Miss Henstock and is open to all of Years 5 and 6. Here is our new band this year who are picking up their tunes at super fast speed. In just 3 or 4 weeks we’ve mastered setting up, a range of different chords, Largo New World, Mockingbird and even got the chords down for Away in a manger on the up. Watch this space for news of performances!
We are Kady, Leon, Ismael, Joe, Delaney, Karandeep, Khyann and normally with a Philippa!
WOW what a great start to music clubs this year.
I have a FANTASTIC new group of children who are very talented at Steel Pans and I can’t wait to get them ready for their first performance this year. We’ve been looking at some key skills in chord changing, playing in unison and also call and response while having a lot of fun in the process. We’ve already nailed Largo New World in just 2 rehearsals.
Mrs Stott has also been overwhelmed with recorders! 32 pupils from Years 3 and 4 (Over 1/4 of the year) want to get tooting so we’ve had to expand the club because of the demand. I look forward to hearing your tooting tunes soon!
Young Voices will be starting up soon so keep your eyes peeled and warm up your vocal chords!
Sophie is back this year working extremely hard with KS1 and KS2 in our weekly singing sessions!
We’ll be getting some tunes sorted for Harvest festival and also slotting in some funky numbers for our topics! Personally I LOVE Party Like A Roman!
Here is Year 3/4 working with Sophie in our hall!
3PH have been making some exciting sounds this week! We’ve been looking at the story The Great Spender and also shapes, colours and sounds of emotions.
We listened to Gustav Holst’s Venus and Mars and generated some wonderful vocabulary to contrast the two: menacing vs peaceful, stormy vs magical.
Then we thought about how we could vary TEMPO, PITCH and DYNAMIC to create different effects with our voices and our instruments.
Finally we worked as a group to create sounds that would emphasise and highlight emotion within our story and created a whole class retelling including our key sounds to represent the emotions.
We are performing our story to parents tomorrow at our celebration gathering!
Exciting news for music at Allerton CE Primary!
After half term the North Leeds Music Centre will be moving to our school on a Saturday. Not only is this very convenient for our musical children but they have thrown in the generous offer for free lessons for all Allerton children, parents and siblings!
Mark and Will from Artforms came to visit us in Assembly to tell us all about it and treated us to some musical demonstrations and a brilliant sound guessing games to test our musical knowledge!
If you’re interested in signing up for free lessons on a Saturday return the form sent home with your child by Friday 9th October which I have attached linked here: NLMC booklet Allerton (2).
